Indeed in this year's Champions League final, it all went down to fate.
Here's the trophy on display at the Luzhniki stadiam in Moscow just before the match. Mind you the kick off was just about half an hour or so before midnight in Moscow.
This means the match started on 21st May and ended on 22nd May. Utd of course were given the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring his 42nd goal.
Frank Lampard pounced on a series of errors to score the equaliser just before half time.
The match went into extra time and eventually penalty shootouts.
Utd's man of the season, Ronaldo missed a penalty leaving Chelsea captain John Terry needing to score from the spot to win the title for Chelsea.
But in tradition with high football drama, Terry slips and misses putting Utd right back in it.
Ryan Giggs does the deed and Edwin Van Der Sar saves from Nicolas Anelka to win Utd's 3rd Champions league title!
